What to expect in therapy for teens…

The first sessions of therapy for teens will focus on understanding focus on understanding your family culture, history, and dynamics between family members. At the end of each session you’ll leave with ideas or assignments for addressing different problem areas. Like any relational therapy setting, family therapy will often require you to explore uncomfortable aspects of your relationships, and you may even discover new issues in the process. This review and discovery process is key to healing and improving family relationships.

For family therapy to have a positive, lasting impact on a family, any involved family members must be fully committed to attending sessions and working on elements of the relationship outside of therapy.
