What it’s like to work with me…

I believe that each person’s journey is unique and personal. Everyone experiences life differently in every culture, family, and community. How you see your journey and what you learn from it is unique to you. You deserve to feel seen and heard, my goal is to create a safe space where you can begin to put the pieces together in a way that makes sense to you. The narrative you create for your life can be rewritten in a way that is supportive, compassionate, and understanding. Everyone holds within them the resources and strength needed to heal, but sometimes we need help to recognize them.

I have an interest in the mind-body connection and how they work together, I believe that treating the whole person is an important part of healing; learning how your body and mind react to stress creates connections that help you recognize warning signs and patterns that cause you to feel anxious, tired, stuck and overwhelmed.

Working together to increase personal insight, expand perspectives in life and bringing families together is the part of my work that brings the greatest joy. We all long for more connection in life, this process begins when we learn to hear each other and understand our own needs as well as our children’s or spouses—this is when true healing begins.

Education

I have an interdisciplinary background in medical and mental health. After attending Bastyr's naturopathic doctoral program for a time, I returned to my first academic love of psychology. I have a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy from Capella University and an associate license of marriage and family therapy (LMFTA) in Washington state.

Experience

During my doctoral training I enjoyed working with patients from all walks of life, and treating them as a whole person. I have worked in community mental health settings, teaching parenting skills and healthy family patterns. Most recently, I’ve worked as a behavioral health counselor in a residential setting for eating disorders.

Speaking & Community

I have volunteered in my church community for most of my life, serving and teaching in many different capacities. I regularly present on the importance of mental health and the different treatments available.

On a more personal note…

I have worked in my church community (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) most of my life serving in many different capacities. I am a wife and mother of two daughters, one biological and one adopted. I’m also an avid dog lover.
